Painted wood cabinetry

Wood expands and contracts naturally. On painted cabinetry, this may create visible joint lines in the painted finish. Open joint lines are common in wood cabinetry and are not considered defects. The finish continues to protect the surface and structural integrity is not affected.

Joint visibility may vary from cabinet to cabinet and can also appear from normal everyday use. Wipe excess moisture from cabinet surfaces quickly, because prolonged moisture can damage exposed wood joints.

Discoloration

Painted finishes, especially lighter colors, can discolor from airborne particles such as cooking residue, grilling smoke, tobacco smoke, fireplaces, or candles. Natural and artificial light, as well as moisture, may also affect finish color over time.

Stained wood cabinetry

Wood is a natural material. Grain patterns, mineral streaks, texture, and color variation are normal characteristics and are not defects. Color changes over time due to aging, sunlight, smoke, chemicals, and other environmental factors.

Photographs of wood, stain, and paint are affected by lighting, screen settings, and printing limitations. Use photos as references only; final selections should be based on physical samples whenever possible.
